While there was no need ever to use the word “Latinx,” given that “Latin” is already gender neutral, the left still decided to take up that language battle. And although Gavin Newsom most certainly used this word, that does not currently align with his attempt to position himself away from the woke left. Nonetheless, he’s not deceiving anyone, as his actions speak louder than words. And in this case, his words are his actions and we have the receipts.
Gavin Newsom used the term “Latinx” several times, despite claiming no one in his office ever did so.\
He was very much part of the culture war and the fact that he's now ashamed to admit that is a personal problem, as he's not fooling anyone.
He was called out on it back then and he should be called out on it now, as he realized his pathetic language colonization proved to be deeply unpopular with voters.
That was also the same episode where he tried to pretend he did not stand on the wrong side of the trans issue since its inception. His office tried to intimate parents and force schools to keep them in the dark if their kids socially transitioned. He could not care less about parental rights, let alone your rights. And to say he's been one of the most progressive governors in America would be an understatement.
The fact that he stood on the far left for every issue and now wants to stray away from that proves how unpopular all of this has been with the American people. And just because he got that memo that does not prove he's suddenly on the right side of the culture war. He's nothing more than a "chameleon" who changes his stance depending on the audience he appeases. And if he thinks he'll be able to win in 2028 by lying his way to the ballot box shows he did not pay enough attention in 2024.
The American people are smarter than this game he's playing and they will never forget his deeply progressive stances on nearly everything over the last several years.
