When it was announced last week that JD Vance would give his first interview as Vice President to CBS News's Margaret Brennan and Face the Nation, some on the Right criticized the decision to give it to an enemy outlet. It's an understandable criticism. There's a word for doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. It's called "journalsiming." However, the concern was misguided because, dude... it's JD Vance we're talking about here.
Brennan was armed with her talking points, all of which were no doubt devised by the Democrat party oligarchy that determines what the Left believes that week. For example, Trump has been president for less than a week. Have you noticed egg prices haven't gone down yet? Derpity derpy derp.
"How does [food] get to the grocery store? It comes on trucks that are fueled by diesel fuel. If the diesel is way too expensive, the [product] is going to become more expensive ... If we lower energy prices, we are going to see lower prices for consumers."
(Also, shout out to Jorge Bonilla because he was the first I saw the using THAT thumbnail of Brennan)
Margaret also played the "we are a nation of immigrants" card to criticize the Trump Administration's mass deportation of ILLEGAL immigrants. Vance countered with an Uno Draw Four and this brilliant sound bite.
"Just because we were founded by immigrants doesn't mean that 240 years later that we have to have the dumbest immigration policy in the world."
If that's not enough, Vance dropped a new meme for us to run into the ground. And trust me, we are going to enjoy running this into the ground with great aplomb.
"I don't really care, Margaret."
Vance's first interview was with an enemy outlet because one of his strong points is combatting those enemy outlets. Trump is good at creating content calling journalismers fake news and telling them they suck at life. Vance is good at defeating every argument they throw at him, no matter how it's framed.
Did Brennan ask him anything that wasn't a Democrat talking point? No. Her questions sound like she scrolled Democrat influencer Twitter and jotted a few posts down. She's also playing to her viewers. The types of people who believe these things make up the majority of mainstream media's dwindling audience.
People watching who are further to the Left are unreachable, but those who are more to the center can be persuaded. That's why JD Vance gets dispatched to the Sunday Morning Shows.
